Stealth Phonebox

This phone box appeared through the fog as I was walking to King’s Cross station. It is near the Gilbert Scott (www.thegilbertscott.co.uk/), which is an apt location for the iconic box that was originally designed by the venue’s namesake.  Created by Malcolm Garrett and Garry Mouat, the artwork is called Stealth and was part of a huge public exhibition in 2012 http://www.btplc.com/BTLondon2012/Showingoursupport/BTArtboxes/index.htm

The boxes were then sold by auction for charity.

I missed the BT ArtBox event but it was captured by some other bloggers the following posts:

Stealth fits well in its new home, almost opposite the brightly coloured Barclays building.

  1. There’s a real sense of movement in that pixellated pattern. I can almost see it shifting in a dynamic representation of the words being spoken inside, but when the phone box is empty it reverts to the black and white speckle of an untuned television.
