Oxford is a city of cyclists. Much of the centre is difficult to access by car and rather flat, so a bike is really the most convenient form of transport. Local businesses have tapped into this enthusiasm by converting old bikes into signs. Here are two that you could find if you stroll up the High Street. The Mission District inspired food outlet arrived in Oxford a few years ago to provide steak, carnitas, chicken or vegetarian burros as a decent alternative to the other chain takeaways. The Vaults and Garden cafe behind St Marys serves food and coffee under the vaulted ceiling of the Oxford University’s old congregation house (built in 1320). Or you can eat in the garden located in Radcliffe Square.
